Meet Our Dental Lab TeamCory Purdy | Owner ![]() He attended Gonzaga University where he rowed for Gonzaga University’s varsity crew team from 1992-1996 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Cory joined his father at Group 4 Dental Lab upon graduation to begin his career as a dental technician. He has spent time in every department in the lab, gaining years of valuable experience in all facets of crown and bridge. Eventually, Cory took over day-to-day operations in 2006, upon Gary’s retirement. Over the last 20 years, Cory has continued his education by attending numerous lectures and workshops from some of the top clinicians and technicians in the dental field. Cory is involved in many continuing education study clubs, including membership in multiple Spear education clubs, as well as 45th Parallel Implant study club. He believes that CAD/CAM technology has advanced the capabilities of dental laboratories to provide consistent results with exciting new materials, but that ultimately, quality starts and stops in the hands of capable, talented and passionate technicians. When Cory is not at the bench working on cases, he can be found pursuing outdoor adventures with his wife Kelly and their two springer spaniels. Alex McKechnie | Quality Control & Implants ![]() His hobbies include drawing and miniature sculpture, which served him well as a waxer for several years, focusing initially on fully anatomical crown design. His formal training in the dental field began with attending the PTC program in Morgan Hill, CA, completing all of their Crown and Bridge courses. This has been followed with practical experience designing implant involved cases, working with both traditional and pressable porcelain, and a few different CAD/CAM packages. This broad range of knowledge and his attention to detail help him to preform much of the lab’s quality control. He still enjoys traditional waxing and is responsible for creating diagnostic wax-ups, as well as the handful of cases which still require designing by hand rather than by CAD.
